I made this little collage zine to share my recollection about a festival called Hanging of the Greens to kick off the pre-Christmas Advent season at the church I attended as a child and teenager.
After describing the warm-fuzzy aspects of the tradition, I then mentioned my surprise at learning that Christmas trees were not the brainchild of Martin Luther as I had been taught. It was my first glimpse of the true origins of many of our Christmas traditions.
This zine is folded from a single sheet of letter-size paper after trimming away the printer margins. It’s 2-5/8” wide by 4” high.
